Creating compelling and modern designs for business and individual solutions.
Rebranding Project
Software Used: Illustrator
Problem To Solve
I was being contacted by companies who thought they were reaching out to an agency full of people and not an individual doing freelance work. I was worried that my current company name and logo were making my desired target audience to look somewhere else.
Goal
The goal was to create a simple, sleek logo that would tie into my branding theme and pull in clients better aimed to my services.
How I Came to a Solution
I sketched out several ideas first, how I wanted to incorporate my name without making it too garbled. I also utilized color psychology and came up with a slogan to help focus that brand and solidify the branding as a whole.
How the Solution Solved the Problem
Utilizing the different methods I was able to create a simple logo of my initials that I can use with anything, the purple colors use color psychology giving the client a relaxed almost sleepy feeling when they see my logo and/or page tying directly into the slogan I created "Put your mind at east and leave your designs to me!"
Challenges Faced
I think trying to figure out a logo for a freelance business was sort of difficult. The whole name can be too long and clunky to add to the logo so it needed to be simple. I struggled a lot with if I was adding too much or adding too little. I wanted it to be something of course that would remain long term and always be applicable to the reason I started going freelance which was to make it easy for people. I'm honestly happy with how everything turned out as well as being comfortable and confident with my new brand.
The Results
This is a recent project I just undertook within the last couple months, however as soon as I uploaded these changes to my site I received a new client whom I hadn't worked with before. I'll be able to continue monitoring the progress as I continue work but the immediate result was a wonderful return.
What I Learned
-
Connecting a business logo to the business image, target audience, slogan and/or theme
-
Trouble shooting and revising where needed.

Website Design, Layout, Inventory Setup & Management Design
Software Used: Photoshop, Illustrator, Square Space (Weebly Builder)
Problem To Solve
The client was needing a website, one to market all the variety of products she had at her store, two to combine the inventory and keep them in a way that would be easy when customers ordered and three, be able to showcase them in a professional way that was directed at her target audience.
Goal
To create a website with products displayed with appropriate mockups, user friendly checkouts for customers, organization of inventory and ease of use with product shipments and send outs.
How I Came to a Solution
This was a large project that was oversaw over the course of a year. Coordinating with the owner, we collected the resources at her disposal and began creating a website, she was going to need something that would be slick and easy to use, especially as she struggled with technology and how it all operated. Knowing that, using the service she was already set up with and semi familiar was the best choice.
How the Solution Solved the Problem
Her previous setup was a little scattered. There was a lot of organization and refinement needed. A lot of her items had random SKUs that probably weren't needed. The solution we came to helped reduce a lot of clutter for her and presented her product in a clear way that helped keep her on track. This solution also helped align with her target audience which was young mothers or grandmothers who would buy clothes for their kids/grandkids. The ease of use on the site works for those age groups.
Challenges Faced
This project was intense. Along with creating a website we also made a Facebook page for her to market and sell her product through temporarily until we were finished with her website. We struggled finding child models that accurately portrayed her designs as well as finding ones that fit within her budget. Additionally, working through all the product images, creating high resolution files of everything, keeping accurate inventory, adding product details, descriptions and coloring was quite a challenge to organize.
The Results
After all the work the results showed a projected 350 visits to her website within the first week. The results will need to be monitored more over time to get a better idea of the results of the website efficiency and effectiveness. Overall, the client was very satisfied with the results and has received lots of positive feedback on the overall look of the site.
What I Learned
-
Large projects like this can take a lot of time.
-
It's very, very important to ask all the questions needed with the client from the beginning to get a better idea of the vision for the page.
-
I learned a lot about how I should have gone about this process in the first place to save us time and potentially some money for the customer
-
Website building optimization and workflow

A bit on Search Engine Optimization
Logo Design Project - Course Project
Software Used: Illustrator & Photoshop
Problem To Solve
This project was for a logo design course for beginners I was taking through Skillshare. The course project was to create a space themed logo mark that is your own.
Goal
To create a simple and unique space themed logo. The logo should be formatted to multiple purposes that make sense for the brand of the company/client.
How I Came to a Solution
As with all logos, sketches are a requirement. I probably filled 2 pages of ideas for a space camp logo. I didn't want it to look like what the instructor's logo looked like. I wanted to branch out and find connections with the name "Space Camp". And through sketching and finding connections I was able to find a unique idea that I liked a lot. Using the A's in Space Camp I was able to create a spaceship that meshed with the text. I was also able to utilize the spoke from the rocket in a way that gives a slight shape of the oval to symbolize that of a brain, perhaps giving the idea that this is a place of learning for kids.
Challenges Faced
Every logo has it's struggles, the sketching, the flow, finding balance, making sure it looks good black and white before adding a color scheme, the challenges are endless. Even with the final logo above, I know that it could be better. More refined. Nonetheless, I'm pleased with the result and think it would make a great logo for a real space camp.
The Results
I got some good feedback on this project from the instructor. The biggest result I got from this project was the knowledge I gained about logo creation, sketching out ideas, making connections, finding reference, giving it some added flare and making a unique and interesting logo. I've also been able to add this neat piece to my portfolio as well.
What I Learned
-
Logo design process including sketches, initial drafts, best programs to use
-
Purpose of logo design, how to link that with the company logo being
How the Solution Solved the Problem
If we go back, the initial problem was to create a unique logo that didn't look like someone else's. Since this was a course there were lots of people who had made their own already. My utilization of the A's in Space Camp helped differentiate my idea from others as well as create a unique logo.
Etsy Shop - Nature Illustration Piece - Print/Digital/Physical Product
Software Used: Illustrator
Problem To Solve
This project was created for my personal Etsy site. I wanted to create a nature series of illustrations emphasizing nature and tying it to feminine features. Generally I just loved the idea of spreading my artwork through there.
Goal
To create illustrations that work together as a set and can be sold in a variety of different mediums.
How I Came to a Solution
Like everything I do, I always sketch out the ideas first. I had a list of ideas of various flowers and ethnicities that I wanted to capture. I actually had a friend who is a talented makeup artist send me some makeup references based on the ideas I gave her. This helped immensely with creating the ideas I had for this project.
How the Solution Solved the Problem
The solution I came up with helped a lot with inspiration and motivation for the project. I was able to create beautiful pieces of work that nailed exactly the vision that I had for the project. I was able to get these pieces printed and they turned out exactly how I was hoping they would.
Challenges Faced
I actually struggled a lot with color schemes for this project. I created 8 different illustrations and I wanted to emphasize something different in each one. I used illustrator for all of these pieces and I wanted to be able to create simple shapes and enhance my creation process compared to past projects I've done similarly.
The Results
The results on this were hard to monitor on this project. Since I didn't have a lot of marketability through Etsy without having a minimum of 10 pieces it was hard to see how many people were seeing my products but I have sold a couple of pieces since putting them up for sale. On top of this though, I was able to add some awesome pieces to my portfolio.
What I Learned
-
A better smoother way to create artwork.
-
Workflow process was much smoother and faster
-
Color coordination and color theory knowledge enhanced
-
Average time it takes to create one of these pieces and what a similar custom artwork would generally run
Layout Design - Graphic Design Fundamentals Course Project
Software Used: InDesign
Problem To Solve
This project was created for a course I took through Skillshare covering the basics of Graphic Design Fundamentals. The objective was to create a layout that implemented the Fundamentals taught in the course.
Goal
At the time, I was wanting to create a spread of the services I could provide as a wedding designer.
How I Came to a Solution
I created this piece in InDesign, I started by creating a grid system to get myself an idea of the space I could use and the flow I could created within the project, general ideas where I wanted photos and text.
How the Solution Solved the Problem
This process was perfect for creating endless ideas for a layout. After I got an idea of what I wanted to include the layout came together so quickly and it was exactly what I was hoping for. I think the layout with this method became visually appealing as well as provide the information I was wanting to include.
Challenges Faced
As any business, you sometimes struggle with how things might be perceived. I think my biggest issue with this layout was if I was including too much. I felt pretty confident about the design layout although I do still wonder if the font selection was the right choice. If I should have included most example images or if I just wanted to focus on the balance of images and text.
The Results
I never did end up going with this format, in the end I realized that weddings are such a competitive area that it would be hard to show the benefit of just design work while making it worth my time. Even so, the fact that that knowledge was presented to me helped me focus more on the niche I was to be in which is a huge win in my books.
What I Learned
-
Solidified my knowledge of the design principles.
-
Better workflow to create layouts for spreads/documents/other designs
-
InDesign tricks such as the grid layout
